Reaction Vs. Response: Don’t jump the gun!!! Respond to situations based on reality, instead of worries or preconceived notions.

Handle every day's ups and downs with grace!

Practicing meditation regularly can regulate your fight or flight mode which essentially lowers your baseline level of emotional arousal. So when something unpleasant happens or you have worried thoughts, you meet it with your utmost attention, curiosity, and with patience rather than fear or anxiety.

"Meditating is an act of self-love"

When meditating we want to concentrate on an object or sensation, such as movement of the breath rising and falling within our body. When our minds wander off we would refocus back on what we were concentrating on. This includes, reading, writing, or any other task you do. You will inevitably become distracted again and again by thoughts.

We are programmed to have over 6,000 thoughts per day. So the goal is not to eliminate thoughts, but to prevent our brain from getting caught up in a thought; facilitating stories or assuming another person’s intentions or thoughts. Also going over past or future scenarios. Sounds like daydreaming. No worries, Pieces. Daydreaming is fun and part of manifestation, seeing yourself or others in a good place. However, it becomes disheartening when those thoughts are causing a negative emotion, distress, or anxiety.

There are numerous ways you can meditate and no matter how you do, they all share similar if not the same benefits and techniques.

Meditation is a form of holistic healing: physically, spiritually, mentally, and socially, overall, promoting relaxation and a better sense of inner peace.

More Reasons to Meditate

  • We quiet our minds in order to focus on the present. ***Focusing on the past and/or the future leads to anxiety. You reduce regret and anxiety by dwelling less on the past, and future
  • While meditating we go into a deep state of relaxation and when we are relaxed are cortisol and adrenaline level decrease ***Cortisol and adrenaline are stress hormones and when they decrease we reduce stress.
  • Meditation requires a lot of patience and discipline *** The more you practice patience the more you develop a higher patience and tolerance level.
  • Meditation includes Noting which helps us recognize negative thoughts or worries when they’re happening and prevents those thoughts from getting worse and prevents you from being caught up in those thoughts. Changing how your brain reacts to stress and anxiety can essentially lighten your triggers that would make you depressed or decrease your anxiety. ((We all have anxiety))
  • Lowers Blood Pressure which can be great for the Heart and physical performance ***Relaxation techniques increase the formation of a compound that opens up blood vessels, resulting in lowering our blood pressure.
  • Improves mood and again, Depression*** We are relaxed when meditating and relaxation activates our endorphins, the body’s Happy Hormone.
  • Improves our immune system *** Meditation increases our T cells which are white blood cells that fight infections.
